Jerry Shorten
20, of Bertram, died in Marble Falls when his pickup hydroplaned
into another car in oncoming traffic. He was on his way to San
Marcos to visit his girlfriend.
Nathan Leggett
17, sophomore at the American Youth Works charter school was heading
home from his job at H-E-B. His car stalled in low water just
blocks from his house near Slaughter Lane. When he tried to escape,
the current washed him beneath his truck.
Santos Perez Lasoya
64, drowned when his truck was swept from a low-water crossing
on County Road 102 in Blanco County. Two other men in the truck
were rescued.
Bertha Vargas
22, of Amarillo, her car was swept off a state highway near Rocksprings
in Edwards County. She clung to a tree with three others but was
swept away.
Joshua Poe
5 months, of Siloam Springs, Arkansas was killed when his familys
van hydroplaned into a tractor-trailer on Texas 71.
Latoya Bibbs
19, of Geronimo was killed at a low water crossing. Volunteer
firefighters were able to rescue her passenger.
Linda Ruiz
51, drowned a quarter-mile downstream from her car which was found
in southeastern Travis County at Blocker Lane and Von Quintus
Road.
Jo Lee Jessee
59 of Thorndale who was swept down Brushy Creek near FM 685 in
Williamson County.
Chau Do
27, of Hutto was also swept down Brushy Creek after being stranded
on top of his car.
Alyssa Faye Murphy
2, was pulled out of a flooded creek in Kingsland and died in
a hospital in Temple.
